Being from the Bay Area I grew up going to the Cinequest Film Festival. Back in the 90s, and still in high school, Cinequest was the first film festival I ever attended. I loved being able to go and see three movies in a day. I knew I wanted to be in movies, create them, but not knowing anyone in the industry I had no clue how I would ever make movies myself. So I did the only thing I could afford- I wrote. I had an endless supply of blank pages and ideas. I said them aloud and I kept filling those blank pages. I learned by doing. I made mistakes and I am still making mistakes. I’m not rich. I’m not famous. But I am extremely grateful that I get to do what I love. And now I get to speak on a panel about what I love most, at the very festival that inspired me to make movies in the first place.
