Safe Society was nominated for Best Scripted (Fiction) Limited Series in the 2024 Signal Awards, which were announced on October 2, 2024. Winners will be announced on October 29, 2024.

This scripted fiction podcast stars Zack Segel as M, Marlain Angelides as The Narrator, Eric Marq as B, Langston Fishburne as W, and Jasmine Ashanti as Sofia. Rajiv Shah plays the recurring character of The Watcher.

Produced, written, and directed by Chris Shimojima, Safe Society was nominated under the Limited Series & Specials Category for Scripted Podcast (Fiction).

Some other major names are named in this category, namely Zack Snyder/Netflix (The Seneschal: A Rebel Moon Story), and in Audible’s Andrew Garfield led 1984 adaptation by George Orwell.

The Signal Awards focuses on highlighting the podcast medium, recognizing “the most potent, meaningful and unprecedented audio projects being made today.” Entrants to The Signal Awards are rewired by The Signal Awards Judging Academy, which is composed of instigators, architects, and trailblazers in the podcast world.

While it can be likened to Brave New World and 1984– both classics– Safe Society represents the world of today. 

The Podcast is an anti-establishment audio drama satirizing mainstream social media trends. More than that, this drama is about mass indoctrination and psychosis, done in an entertaining fashion.

Safe Society follows M, a woke entrepreneur who develops an irrational obsessive-compulsive disorder. His mental disorder makes him vulnerable, allowing a fearmongering lobbying organization to manipulate him to terrifying and absurd policy extremes. This limited series follows his story, seeing if he wakes up before it he falls too deep into the rabbit hole.
