Six years ago today Run the Tide was released. When I look back it it represents the culmination of years of belief, hard work and joy-continuing on in spite of rejections and doubts… believing in a dream that one day the film would finally be made.
This picture is from the first day on set. It was before we got the first shot off for the day. I remember the director Soham Mehta our DP John Connor and 1st AD Doug Turner were inside going over the first scene early in the morning. I was a fly on the wall trying to stay out the way. My eyes drifted across the trailer, kind of processing that all this was actually happening. Suddenly, it got real quiet and I realized they had made their way out of the trailer and I was alone.
I sat down on the chair next to the baseball glove in the picture and I was staring at the wall of pictures just past the bed. The morning sun was breaking through the open door, spilling light onto this collection of images that had lived inside my imagination for so long. And there it was, this piece of a world that had been only a dream- and it was now real for me to see and touch. It is a moment I’ll never forget.
What unfolded on the shoot was a time filled with so many great moments of joy and learnings. I’ll never forget that I got to put my mom in a prison scene with Constance Zimmer and that, as she was a big Twilight fan, she also got to fulfill her wish of meeting Taylor Lautner. I’m grateful for the memories, for the incredible cast & crew and everything that the experience provided.
Check out the film if you get a chance. You can find the film on Amazon. Starring Taylor Lautner, Constance Zimmer, Kenny Johnson, Johanna Braddy & Nicos Christou.
