In a thrilling development, it was recently announced that screenwriter Rajiv Shah has been selected to the DreamAgo fellowship- Plume & Pellicule- which takes place in Sierre, Switzerland every summer. DreamAgo is a cinematic non-profit that is often likened to the Sundance Lab because of its mountainous setting in the Swiss Alps and its dedication to supporting burgeoning talent in the film industry. By providing financial assistance, script development, and networking opportunities, DreamAgo helps filmmakers bring their visions to life and into the world.
DreamAgo, under the leadership of its visionary President Pascale Rey, has regularly attracted A-list actors, directors, writers, and producers who offer their expertise during the development process at DreamAgo. Renowned filmmakers and screenwriters like Stephen Frears, Christopher Hampton, Alain Corneau, Guillermo Arriaga, Benicio del Toro, Jose F. Lacaba, and Jorge Perugorria are among DreamAgo’s generous patrons.
The Plume & Pellicule workshop is the highlight of DreamAgo’s offerings, and ten screenwriters from across the globe are selected for an intensive week-long development lab led by professional script consultants such as Christopher Hampton, Maggie Soboil, David Seidler, Carl Gottlieb, Arturo Arango, Fernando Castets, and Lindy Davies.
The goal of the Plume & Pellicule workshop is for the selected writers to hone their screenplays for production, which are given to producers and executives at the annual American Film Market in Santa Monica in the late-fall as part of the “Meet Your Match” program. This remarkable venue allows screenwriters to engage with professionals face to face and to foster new production partnerships.
Rajiv’s previous professional writing credits include Run the Tide starring Taylor Lautner, Constance Zimmer & Kenny Johnson. The film is distributed worldwide by Momentum, Orion and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. He is also a prior winner of Showtime Networks’ Tony Cox Screenwriting Competition at the Nantucket Film Festival, Project Catalyst at Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. His writing and film work have been awarded and/or recognized by organizations such as Showtime Networks, HBO, The Academy Nicholl Fellowship, The Austin Film Festival, ScreenCraft, Final Draft, The Page Awards, Visual Communications, Ava Duvernay’s Diverse Voices, and the Atlanta Film Festival as well as many others.
