Rajiv Shah is currently starring in the upcoming Pulitzer Prize-nominated play “A Perfect Ganesh,” written by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, and is set to run from July 15 until October 7 at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum.
“A Perfect Ganesh” explores the lives of two women, Margaret and Katharine, two polar opposites in every way, who set off on an adventure to India to heal the overwhelming loss of both of their sons. As they explore the vibrant streets of New Delhi and navigate the stark beauty of Varanasi, they encounter various characters who touch their lives in profound ways.
Rajiv brings to life these multitude of characters who are fellow travelers, Indian locals and even the ghosts of the women’s lost sons. Throughout the duration of the play, Shah skillfully morphs into these distinctive characters— each character becoming a new layer adding to the richness and depth of the narrative.
“A Perfect Ganesh” charts the emotional journey of overcoming loss through acceptance and forgiveness, leading to the women to an unexpected self-discovery, healing, and renewal.
Set to open on July 15, 2023 the play will be part of the Theatricum Botanicum’s 50th Anniversary Repertory Season in Topanga, California.
